Iroko TV shoot

We at 601 Realtime were contracted to produce a series of TV ads for the new online movie rental company Iroko TV. We got the job based on a similar ad we shot (Wakanow) but this time, the backdrop would be grey, instead of white.
So as expected we decided to “copy and paste” the setup. Same studio, same kind of backdrop and same lighting.
So I have decided to share the experience:
Backdrop: this was made up of cheap polyester material gotten from Yaba, Lagos (open flea market for clothes, etc). The tricky part is the visible seam as the material is sold in rows and to cover a studio height of 13feet, there had to be some sewing. Not much of a problem as the background would be thrown out of focus.

Lighting: basic lighting was employed with 2 4-bank Kinos to light the backdrop, 2 Arri 800W tungsten for backlight, a 2-bank Kino for overhead light, a 6-bank Kino for key and my babies, the fluorescent soft boxes for additional fill.

Camera: All shot on the Canon EOS 7D with Nikkor primes.
Audio: Audio was basically Seinnheiser wireless lapel Koga connected to a Sony Z7 (the Zoom H4n wasn’t available)
Picture profile used was the Tecnicolor come profile to give the widest possible dynamic range (for post production reasons).
Well that’s about it for now. Check back for updates.
